Coletivo Plástico Preto

Coletivo Plástico Preto (CPP) is a multidisciplinary collective active since 2013, dedicated to performative actions and installations that address the obstacles imposed on contemporary urban life. The collective invites active public participation, transforming the residues generated through the interaction between performers (the collective) and the audience into material for installation.

Their performances make use of materials commonly rejected by the market and society, reprogramming them through an anti-aesthetic logic that gives rise to a deviant aesthetic. The work often unfolds in exhibition openings at galleries and museums, where performative actions intervene in spaces traditionally shaped by institutional hierarchies, market values, and the sanctification of the art object.

These interventions momentarily disrupt the intended use of such spaces, creating tensions between so-called high culture and mass culture, the street and the white cube. CPP has presented ongoing projects in multiple venues, including A Gentil Carioca, Amarelo Negro, Oi Futuro, and many others., but as participant—blurring the line between artwork and encounter. Our work takes place in the gaps, tensions, and improvisations that mark the city, always pushing against the boundaries of where art begins and ends.
